When cell phones are tested by the manufacturers for compliance, they do so with a separation between the phone and the body so that they remain compliant with FCC (and other European bodies) guidelines , cell phones were never designed to be carried right up against the body yet most phone users are unaware of this very important safety warning which is buried within their mobile phone under ‘Legal”.
The FCC and other European bodies have set a so-called ‘safe’ limit for RF exposure from cell phones which is currently 1.6W/kg although it should be noted this limit was set back in 1993 on a phantom head modelled on a male marine soldier and not the average size/weight of most users. There was no consideration of a child’s size /weight when this limit was set
In order for a cell phone manufacturer to meet FCC guidelines, the measured SAR of the phone must be below 1.6W/kg –to remain under this limit, the cell phone manufacturers test their phones at various distances from the body. During compliance testing, cell phone manufacturers adjust the distance required until the ‘safe’ limit is met, the cell phone instruction manual will then state the specified distance to keep their phone from the body so that this limit is met.

Cases with metal parts may change the Radio Frequency (RF) performance of the device, including its compliance with RF exposure guidelines, in a manner that has not been tested or certified.”

The Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) information for the Samsung Galaxy S7 (http://www.samsung.com/sar/sarMain?site_cd=&prd_mdl_name=SM-G930F&selNatCd=US&languageCode=EN) notes the following: “Body-worn SAR testing has been carried out at a separation distance of 1.5 cm. To meet RF exposure guidelines during body-worn operation, the device should be positioned at least this distance away from the body.
“Organizations such as the World Health Organization and the US Food and Drug Administration have suggested that if people are concerned and want to reduce their exposure, they could use a hands-free accessory to keep the wireless device away from the head and body during use, or reduce the amount of time spent using the device.”
The Legal Guide for the Moto G (3rdGeneration) (https://motorola-global-en-aus.custhelp.com/ci/fattach/get/1493090/1451510625/redirect/1/filename/Generic_LG_en-GB_68018055008A.pdf) states:
“For optimal device performance, and to stay within the RF exposure guidelines:
When using the mobile phone next to your body (other than in your hand or against your head), maintain a distance of 1.5 cm (3/4 inch) from your body to be consistent with how the mobile phone is tested for compliance with RF exposure requirements.”

The BlackBerry Classic (http://help.blackberry.com/pt/content/sib/classic/sqc100-1/Safety_and_product_information_sqc100-1_EN.html) safety and product information states: “To maintain compliance with FCC, EU, and other relevant international radio frequency exposure guidelines and limits, keep the smartphone at least 0.59 in. (1.5 cm) away from your body. To reduce radio frequency exposure: (i) use the smartphone in areas where there is a strong wireless signal; (ii) use hands-free options; and (iii) reduce the amount of time spent on calls or send an email, text message, or BBM message instead.”
The SAR guidelines (https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/12673/mobile-devices-sar-information) for the Nokia Lumia 950 state: “This device meets RF exposure guidelines when used against the head or when positioned at least 1.5 cm away from the body. When a carry case, belt clip or other forms of device holder is used for body-worn operation, it should not contain metal and should provide at least the above-stated separation distance from the body.”
Cell phone manufacturers instruct users to carry the phone at least 5-15mm away from body to ensure radiation levels remain at or below the as-tested levels.
What the US & France are doing about cell phone radiation
Berkeley in the US http://www.saferemr.com/2014/11/berkeley-cell-phone-right-to-know.html?m=1 (as well as Maine & Hawaii) are making warnings about mobile phone radiation easily visible at the point of sale when all mobile phones are purchased as well as on the phone’s packaging. About the Cellsafe Technology
The Cellsafe® Radi Chip™s patented technology consists of multiple layers of specially formulated microwave absorbing materials, combined with a specially engineered passive inductive directional RF coupler. These layers absorb most of the transmitted RF signal from the mobile phone’s antenna while the RF coupler controls and disperse the signal towards the back of the phone. These layers are sprayed in a form of micro-sized particles. The composition is adjusted perfectly to absorb the maximum and equal signal power for the range of transmitted frequency bands from the phones antenna/s.
These layers and our specially designed passive inductive directional RF coupler, act to disperse the majority of the signal absorbed towards the back of the phone.
Devices which claim to act as ‘shields’ may significantly interfere with the normal operation of the phone. Reduced or redirected transmission levels caused by such shielding products can interfere with call reception and quality and may also cause calls to drop out. The Radi Chip technology has been scientifically tested and proven not to interfere with the transmission signal or with call reception, unlike these ‘shielding’ devices.
All of this is designed to achieve a better result than just keeping the phone away from users head or body (as recommended by the manufacturers).

We also test the signal strength of the phone to ensure there is no reduction in the phone’s performance when the Cellsafe Radi-Chip is applied. THE MEN BEHIND THE TECHNOLOGY.
Radio frequency engineer Aaron Leibovich is passionate about improving the safety of mobile phone communications.
He’s been involved with the intricacies of telecommunications equipment for almost 50 years, including extensive experience working with radio frequency equipment. It’s this understanding and interest in telecommunications that led Aaron to create a product that actually works in reducing mobile phone radiation with virtually no effect on your transmission signal or call reception.
Aaron began his impressive experience in electronics studying electronic engineering specialising in RF communication and aircraft navigation equipment. He began as an electronic engineer, working on a range of telecommunication and navigational systems, serving Israeli Airforce and many years working for the Israeli defence institute of armament development “RAFAEL”.
Aaron later set up and ran a number of his own extremely successful telecommunication businesses, constantly staying ahead of the ever-evolving electronics market. This long-term experience within the telecommunications industry gave Aaron an in-depth understanding of how mobile phones and wireless devices are designed, as well as an acute awareness of the precautionary measures taken by those who work with radio frequency.
Aaron and the Cellsafe Smartchip
When Aaron saw an increase in mobile phone use with no technology available to reduce radiation, he set to work developing the Smartchip solution. He began working with various materials and techniques that hadn’t been yet combined in such a way to develop the first CellSafe phone case. After endless modifications of the design and thorough laboratory testing, the resulting product was proven to reduce SAR by up to 74.2% Since then Aaron and his team has refined the smart technology to an adhesive radi-cushion and further still to the ultra-thin Cellsafe Smartchip, which is undetectable under a phone case with even better results, reducing SAR by Up to 95%.
